choosing a venue

Ceremony on the deck with a view of the Intercoastal...

or another possible ceremony site...
(but a definite photo shoot spot)

with a ballroom reception here.

Ceremony site on the marsh...

with a ballroom reception here.

Or a beach front pavilion ceremony...

with an open air covered reception here.

Soon we'll know,
as the bride and groom to-be will decide where to host their big day!

inbetween blue and green

The blues and greens of this wedding palette were inspired by the beautiful hydrangeas decorating the cake and the accent cabbage in the bouquets.

South Hampton wedding on the Lawn

I grew up on Long Island, on the North Shore, and we sailed and swam at a yacht club. It was our summer vacation, every summer. I was married at the club in May of 1978, an eternity ago. Even as an adult, my own children took sailing lessons there.
I still love anything nautical... from the color navy blue to signal flags, knots and seashells... and... I especially love spending a lazy summer at a beach house on the water.
I know the coral is a bit Caribbean, but I love the red accent

Wouldn't it be lovely to set up your ceremony chairs on this lawn, a nice off shore breeze gently blowing, and say your vows with the ocean in the background?!

44 cents 1st class mail starts today

The cost of mailing your invitations just went up, again. If you stocked up on the "forever stamp" you're okay for 1 ounce, but otherwise here are two new designs for your first class 1 ounce postage.

On May 1, 2009, in Washington, DC, the Postal Service™ will issue a 44–cent Wedding (Rings) special stamp, designed by Ethel Kessler of Bethesda, Maryland.
The new Wedding (Rings) stamp features a photograph of two gold wedding rings resting on a small white pillow; a slender ribbon of white silk unites them. The phot
ograph was taken by Renee Comet of Washington, DC.
On May 8, 2009, in Washington, DC, the Postal Service™ will issue a 44–cent, Love: King and Queen of Hearts definitive stamp with two different designs in a convertible booklet of 20 stamps. The stamp was designed by Derry Noyes of Washington, DC, and Jeanne Greco of New York, New York.

Always
weigh your invitation with all the pieces you're including inside of it first to make sure you've covered the weight with the proper postage. Just bring one, put together, to the Post Office and have them tell you the postage required. You want to be sure your guests receive your invitation and you don't get them back!

Keep it all under two ounces and then you can use this new wedding cake stamp
On May 1, 2009, in Washington, DC, the Postal Service™ will issue a 61–cent 2–ounce Wedding (Cake) special stamp, designed by Ethel Kessler of Bethesda, Maryland.
This new 2–ounce stamp features a photograph of a wedding cake taken by Renee Comet of Washington, DC. The photograph depicts a three–tier cake topped with white flowers, their stems and leaves a delightful contrast to the cake’s creamy white frosting, and is sure to add a touch of beauty and romance to wedding correspondence.

Here are the new rates for mailing a letter:
1 ounce $0.44
2 ounces $0.61
3 ounces $0.78
3.5 ounces $0.95

Keep all this in mind when choosing your invitations. And remember... there is an additional up charge for a square.

Inspiration board: melon and aqua

The inspiration colors were requested by Alexandra. Her favorite color is aqua and she's wondering what to pair with it. She loved the idea of a signature drink in the palette colors, and with orange there are so many delicious drinks to choose from!

Here's aqua paired with melon
The invitation by Wedding Paper Divas combines both colors in a fun paisley design. In the board above the maids are wearing aqua, but maybe you'd prefer them in melon or orange like the board below...
Your bridesmaids will look great with the changing colors of the leaves. I also included a few other invitations... a fun bicycle "save the date" and an orange floral your maids could send for your shower. There are so many functions when having a wedding, may as well enjoy sending all your favorites!

and for the cake... I'm still looking for the perfect color combination and design. I'll add it when I find it so come back soon!

hot tip: tent sale!

need Thank You cards? You've come to the right place!
Boatman Geller is having a tent sale!
